A quick mindfulness routine

If you’ve never tried sitting outside your usual meditation space, try the following:

  1. Find a Quiet Spot: Look for a peaceful location, whether it’s a park bench, your car, or a quiet corner in a coffee shop. The key is to minimize distractions and create a serene atmosphere for your practice.
  2. Focus on Your Breath: Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to center yourself. Even if you’re on a lunch break or sitting in your car waiting to pick up your kids from school, let the distractions and stresses drop away, even momentarily. 
  3. Observe Your Surroundings: Shift your attention to the world around you, without getting caught up in it. Notice the sounds, smells, and sensations. Breathe and watch the world play out in front of you.
  4. Slowly Reemerge: When you are ready, slowly turn your attention back to the rest of your day. Remember to take it all in stride. And remember that this state is a place you can return to whenever you need to.
