Our Medium Weight Samue is a stylish and will last a lifetime. Samue (or Samu-e or Samu-gi) is traditionally the work jacket for a Buddhist monk or nun in Japan. And it looks great on anyone. Wear it to the meditation hall, the dojo, around town or working in the garden.
This is our medium weight 100% cotton samue, and comes in Black, Brown or Navy Blue. We use a soft brushed 8.5 oz cotton that is pre-shrunk, and will has a maximum shrinkage of 3-5%.
The fit is quite roomy. The samue closes with ties and you’ll find it has a zippered outside pocket. Our samue is machine washable. And like all of our clothing, it’s made right here in Seattle. Whatever your line of work happens to be, we think you’ll love doing it in this samue set.

Best samue I’ve found yet. Actually usable for work and practice. Comfortable, durable material. Elegantly made but clearly hard wearing. Even in Japan this type of samue are difficult to find. Lots of cheap flimsy synthetic fabric lounge wear marketed as samue all over the internet. Avoid these expensive trappings and buy from Still Sitting. Packaged with care, stitching is impeccable. Sizes run large, but this is mostly a concern with the pants, at my 34w 31inseam, I tried size “small” – they fit perfect 👌
Both the jacket and the pants are exactly what I was hoping for. You know how sometimes you order things on line and the fabric is actually cheap and thin and not very good? Not here! These are comfortable and solid, ready to be worn for a lifetime. Thank you!

I love my new brown medium-weight samue from Still Sitting. This samue is warm, sturdy, and at the same time soft. I appreciate that the sleeves are wide, straight, and long, allowing wide jubon sleeves to fit comfortably inside. I also appreciate that the pant legs close at the bottom with velcro, which lies flat on the ankles when sitting (versus ties which can be uncomfortable.) I also like that the pants have a zipper and elastic along with the ties. (meaning they don’t fall down when I untie them.) It is true they run large. I am 5’2″ and usually where a woman’s 8. I could have gotten XS but I like my samue to be very roomy so I have size S. Thank you Still Sitting!
