Our Kyoto Collection Samue Pants are made from our new 100% lightweight cotton Japanese fabric. They’re perfect for cross-legged or kneeling meditation – they don’t pinch or bind anywhere. They’re also great for wearing around town, working outside, or hanging out on the couch.
We really like the details on these pants. They have elastic in the back of the waist, and a draw string in the front – so they expand and contract well. They have deep comfortable side pockets. They button and have a front zipper. At the ankle, they close with a Velcro tab – we think this looks and feels nicer than elastic. The fit is quite roomy!
These match our Kyoto Morning and Midnight Samue Jackets, but feel free to mix and match. There might be a slight difference in the dye lot between the morning jacket and pants
“Samu” means “work practice” in a Zen community – these are the garment of choice for Japanese monks and nuns when they are not sitting in meditation doing the work of the day. That said, we think they look and feel great in the meditation hall. And whatever your line of work happens to be, we think you’ll love doing it in this jacket.
We tailor these pants from comfortable 100% lightweight cotton. Our Samue Pants are pre-shrunk and machine washable. And like all of our clothing, they’re made right here in Seattle.
Our Samue Pants come in three colors: Kyoto Midnight, which is a dark brown weave; Kyoto Morning, a light grey weave, and Kyoto Blue, a blue weave.
