We’re also pleased to introduce new devotional and decorative pieces made in Japan. The Wooden Bodhidharma (Kokeshi Daruma) offers a warm, hand-polished reinterpretation of a favorite Zen icon. Mesa Zafu
We’re excited to introduce the Mesa Zafu: a distinctive new addition to Still Sitting’s handcrafted cushion collection. Designed for practitioners who want more height, more surface area, and a steadier base, this 14.5″ round cushion offers noticeably more lift and stability than a traditional zafu.
Filled with buckwheat hulls, it provides firm, structured support, especially helpful for taller sitters, tight hips, or anyone seeking easier pelvic tilt and spinal alignment.
Available in Standard with a durable sewn cover or Deluxe with a removable outer cover for easy cleaning. Offered in Black, Denim, and Walnut Brown.

Mesa Zafu is a large, stable buckwheat meditation cushion offering generous height and surface area for steady, grounded sitting.
Travelling Jizo
This small ceramic Jizo stands just 2 inches tall, and is as calming as cute. With hands in gassho and a simple brown hat, this Travelling Jizo honors the traditional role of Jizo as protector of travelers, children, and those moving through difficult transitions.
Its miniature size makes it easy to place on a bedside table, desk, home altar, or small corner that calls for a gentle reminder of protection and compassion. Thoughtful and understated, it also makes a meaningful gift for someone navigating change.
The straw hat recalls the Japanese folktale Kasa Jizo, in which small acts of kindness toward snow-covered Jizo statues are quietly returned.

Little Helper Cushion
The Little Helper Cushion offers subtle, targeted support exactly where you need it. Designed to relieve pressure points without changing your entire setup, this small meditation support cushion provides just enough lift to make longer sits more sustainable.
Place it under the ankle in half or full lotus, beneath the knee in cross-legged posture, under the top foot in Burmese position, or beneath the hands to support a mudra. Especially helpful during retreat, it works seamlessly alongside your zafu or zabuton when small discomforts begin to add up.

Wooden Bodhidharma (Kokeshi Daruma)
This solid wood Daruma presents Bodhidharma in a rounded, kokeshi (traditional Japanese wooden doll)-inspired form that combines the familiar daruma image of perseverance with the warmth and presence of carved wood.
The hand-polished surface reveals the natural grain beneath, while bold painted features capture Bodhidharma’s fierce, focused expression with subtle humor. The piece merges the minimalist form of traditional kokeshi dolls with the enduring iconography of Zen’s founding figure.

Japanese Lacquer Home Altar (Butsudan)
Crafted in Japan, this Lacquer Home Altar (Butsudan) offers a refined, beautifully proportioned space for daily practice. Constructed from agathis wood and finished in a deep brown lacquer, it carries a warm sheen and understated presence suited to long-term home use.
Traditional double-hinged folding doors open fully to reveal a clean, thoughtfully arranged interior. A sliding platform extends forward to hold an incense bowl, candle, or small offering, then retracts smoothly when not in use. A concealed drawer below provides discreet storage for incense and personal items, keeping the altar composed and uncluttered.
Sized at 16.5″ × 12.5″ × 9″ (traditional 1-shaku 4-sun), it is compact enough for a shelf or table while maintaining the visual weight and balance expected of a formal butsudan.
