Description
This Chukpi is a traditional wooden instrument used to begin and end meditation sessions. Held in one hand and struck against the open palm, it produces a clear, percussive clap that carries easily without lingering. At 17 inches long, it offers both visual presence and functional clarity, making it suitable for meditation spaces where timing and structure are important.
It is commonly used in Korean Buddhist traditions to signal transitions in group and individual practice. This chukpi is crafted in Korea from durable apricot wood, shaped to resemble bamboo. It is stamped with the Chinese character for “Sky,” a traditional marking that reflects its cultural origins.
A twine strap is included for hanging, making it easy to store or display when not in use.
