Meditation Benches

We offer several hand‑crafted, original meditation benches: the Center Bench, Traditional Bench, and our Nomad folding bench. Each piece is beautifully crafted by a local woodworker right here on Vashon Island, Washington, using quality materials and attention to every detail. Whether you’re deepening your zazen practice or seeking a more supported posture for seated meditation, our benches are designed to enhance your comfort and alignment.

Meditation benches are an excellent choice for meditators who prefer the seiza (kneeling) posture or who need a little more height than a zafu alone provides. They help elevate the hips and lighten pressure on the knees, allowing for a more upright spine and a calm, spacious sitting experience. According to traditional wisdom, a properly aligned posture helps the body relax and the mind settle—making the bench more than just a seat, but a support for practice.

The three bench styles offer distinct benefits:

• Nomad Folding Bench: Portable and practical, folding flat for travel, retreats, or outdoor practice.  Plus the height is adjustable.

• Center Bench: Features a raised, straight profile—ideal for long sits in a communal space or meditation hall.

• Traditional Bench: A timeless design with quality craftmanship for added comfort and an simple aesthetic.

In addition, we offer hand‑crafted bench cushions that securely attach to our Center or Tradition bench. Available in a variety of colors and fabrics, these cushions add extra padding and warmth, as well as being easy to attach and remove.
