FAQs – Indigo Denim Samue
What fabric is the Indigo Denim Samue made from? It’s made from 8 oz laundered 100% cotton indigo denim — rugged and workwear-inspired, but softer than you might expect. The pre-washing process breaks the fabric in before it reaches you, giving it a comfortable hand from the first wear while retaining the durability and character that denim develops over time.
Is denim comfortable for seated meditation? Yes. The samue cut is roomy and relaxed, designed to move with you in seated and kneeling positions. The elastic and drawstring waist on the pants helps too. That said, some practitioners prefer a lighter samue for extended sitting and reach for the denim for work practice, cooler weather, or daily wear.
How does it compare to the Medium Weight Samue? Despite being close in fabric weight, the Indigo Denim feels lighter in wear than the Medium Weight — the laundered denim has a different drape and hand than brushed cotton. The Medium Weight is warmer and better suited to cold zendos or outdoor practice in cool weather. The denim is more versatile across seasons and settings.
What pockets does it have? The jacket has a zippered outer pocket and closes with ties. The pants have a zippered fly, side pockets, and an elastic and drawstring waist.
How does sizing run? The Indigo Denim Samue follows the same sizing and fit as our Medium Weight Samue. Like all our samue, it runs large — check our size chart and when in doubt, size down.
Is it machine washable? Yes. Pre-washed to a maximum of 3–5% shrinkage.
