New Zen Stool 10% off New Wrist Malas 15% off Samue Jacket 15% off

Hi folks,

Tis the season for family get-togethers, holiday outings, and gift giving.  But let us not forget that it’s the season for reflection.  Here at Still Sitting we wish you some time to yourself this winter season, time for quiet contemplation away from the hurly burly.  We’ll be taking that time here on Vashon Island … in between filling orders of course.  We find a ten minute meditation sitting is possible even during busy holidays.  And for us there’s nothing like a brisk cold walk to clear the mind this time of year.

We want to let you know about some new products we think you might like.  Check out our stylish Zen Stool, perfect for sitting in meditation, or for the living room or office.  We’ve also added an array of wrist malas for you to choose from.  We’re pretty sure there’s one for every taste now.

We usually post the biggest sale at around this time of year, and this year is no exception.  You’ll find a whole lot of our inventory on sale.  We hope you find a thing or two that interests you!

Warm, calm wishes for the holidays,

The Still Sitting Crew

Sitting Tip – Not To Loose, Not Too Tight

When meditating you should feel relaxed and at ease.  At the same time, try having full attention to whatever is going on, moment by moment. Meditation is really a combination of relaxation and attention.  Too relaxed and you’ll be sleepy and dull.  Too attentive and you’ll tense up, and meditation will become rigid.  There’s an old story we like about the Buddha’s conversation with a musician:

Sitting Tip

"What happens when you tune strings of your lute too tightly?" the Buddha asked.
"The strings break," the musician replied.
"And what happens when the strings are too loose?"
"When they are too loose, I cannot make music," the musician answered. "The strings that produces a beautiful sound are not too tight and not too loose."
The Buddha said, "That is how to practice - not too tight and not too loose."

Testimonial From a Recent Customer

You asked for feedback or suggestions.  I cannot come up with any suggestions.  The only one that comes to mind would be pants suitable to wear with the samue jacket, but I believe you're already working on that.

As to feedback, I've bought a lot of things from you and have been nothing but totally happy with each and every item.  The only foul up over the years was an order I goofed up on but you went out of your way to make it right, even though it was my fault.

Thank you for your wonderful products and service.
